Zoo Break

Over the years Hollywood and society, for that matter, as they are the ones watching the movies, have been fascinated with prison breaks.  Plenty of classics plot lines are centred on this very idea, The Great Escape, The Shawshank Redemption, The Fugitive, Cool Hand Luke.  There are even creative flips of the idea about breaking into prison, such as The Rock.

The list goes on and on.  We all know that the element of suspense and thriller action of these films coupled with the cleverness make for great cinema.  I am sure over the years we will continue to have reworkings of this idea again and again.

But for Megan and myself we will never be able to appreciate a dramatised version again.  Not after seeing a prison break in real life.  Or should I say Zoo Break!

No, we didn't read the book by Gordon Korman, although he he is a great author and paints a vivid picture with words. We saw one of the animals making a run for it over the weekend.

You may not have seen that as we are moving quite fast and he or she, I can't tell, is moving slow. We were going so fast in fact we had to turn around and do another drive by.  So I think we can all learn from this story that slow and steady wins the race.  This is also true when you are walking your pet tortoise.

Man, I wish we were better bloggers!! It has been quite awhile since we have blogged, and lots has happened!! So instead of writing it all out I'm just going to put up pics ( we all know we like looking at blogs with pictures instead of just writing)

Ben loves getting into things, you would think since we don't live in a big house we could keep these moments to a minimum, but he finds ways and time to get into trouble without us knowing :)

Although we have to or he will be running wild, and this is the face we get when we get mad and say no!! I try so hard not to smile and laugh but I can't help it!

Getting ready to go get his year shots!! I was a little behind so he was actually 14 months, he weighed in at 23.2 lbs and is 77 cm in height and has a head size of 49 cm!! SO in about the 43 percentile for weight, 55th for height and about the 98 percentile for his head!! Does that mean he is going to have brains and be super smart!! We hope so :)

I wasn't watching Ben closely enough and all of a sudden I heard thud thud thud thud... the little man took a tumble down these stairs from top to bottom. Good thing Auntie J Star was at the bottom to scoop Ben up to make sure nothing was broken and I was running down the stairs thinking I was going to see the worse!

I was lucky that he didn't hurt himself more, just a little cut to the eyelid, he still looks like he loves me though.... right??

Wishing Grandma Baker a happy birthday!!! Wish we could be there, but Nigeria is a little bit too far... but we are thinking about you and hoping you know how much we love you!!!

So there you have it, the last month or so of what has been going on in our lives!! We are getting excited for this next one to come and hoping he (or her) is as cute as Ben is!!

THREE THINGS I KNOW FOR SURE!!!

ONE : I definitely married the right person. I cannot put into words how much I love this man. He is the most loving, hard working, unselfish, FUNNY, spiritual, caring, understanding, FUNNY, romantic (OK maybe not romantic) but FUNNY man in the world!! The day I married him was the best day of my life up until that point and ever since has been better and better!!! Even on those days when I feel like the world is coming down on me and is going to crush me at any moment, Jeff has a way of making everything better!! Although we are not perfect we are perfect for each other and I really wish I could tell you all how much he means to me!!

TWO : This little guy is ridiculously funny and keeps Jeff and I laughing and loving life everyday!!! I am amazed everyday at the little person he is becoming!! He is running all over the place and it is a challenge to keep up with him! He makes messes faster then I can clean them! I have now decided that there is no point in trying to keep up with him so I don't clean up until he is down for the night! I just feel bad because when Jeff walks in the door he cannot see the floor!! Benjamin has been such a blessing to me and I am so grateful to be his mom. I just hope that he isn't warped because his parents are both a little nutty! He went through a shy phase but lately he loves everyone!! Well, maybe not everyone... most people though :) I JUST LOVE THIS LITTLE GUY!!!

THREE : November 5th.... I am in love with this date right now!! Not because it was the day in 1952 that General Dwight D Eisenhower won the American presidential election with the largest number of popular votes ever recorded for a presidential candidate! Nope, not because of that!! Not even because on this day in 1994 George Forman became the oldest Boxing Heavyweight Champion of the world ( I do love the George Forman grill) as amazing as that was.. not the only reason I love November 5th. In 2006 on November 5th, Saddam Hussein was convicted of Crimes against Humanity and sentenced to death. That makes it a pretty good day I guess. In 2007 we will all remember that this was the day the US screenwriters went on strike!!! Horrible day, but although that was a day I may want to forget it does not diminish my love for November 5th!! NO, November 5th will always be important to me because not only was Bryan Adams, Art Garfunkel and Tatum O'Neal born on this day, but so will my second child!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Job is Bit Silly

My brothers and I have had a discussion about what we each do for a living.  I find it difficult to explain.  If you are curious as well check it out for yourself.  I make stuff like this happen.

Benjamin is ONE!!!!

Where did the time go.... I have no idea but yesterday our little guy turned one!!! What a year it has been... full of laughter, lots of diaper changes and sleepless nights but lots of love for him! We threw him a little party last night with a few family and friends!!! He got a whole new wardrobe which is nice and some new toys that will keep him entertained for awhile!!

I decided to be adventerous and try and make a cute cake for him. I had seen one on the web which I thought looked easy enough so I set off trying to duplicate it!! My sister in law makes AMAZING cakes and I am in awe of them all the time so decided to give it a try. Although it is not nearly as amazing as Sue Anne's cakes, it turned out pretty good for my first attempt!!

Baby Food

Sometimes Ben is a little less then excited about the food that we give him.  He only ever wants what myself and Megan are eating.  And lets be honest we aren't eating this.



I don't even know what it is.

I found out it means hunter in Italian.  So it is chicken prepared hunter-style.  Oh yes of course that means with carrots and tomatoes because those are hunter foods.



Ben is not impressed with hunter style.

Just lounging about spitting out food.  That is the life.
